Generation X - "Sweet Revenge" foi escrito há 40 anos

Approximately 40 Years Ago - May/June 1979 - Generation X rented a house in Oxfordshire UK to write material for their third LP, 'Sweet Revenge'. 

The recording sessions took place at Olympic Studios in London in July 1979; however, the album was abandon before completion. Tony has said the reason the album was never finish was because of Derwood's departure from the band, although he was still in the band until December 1979. In fact, we wouldn't have heard the album at all if Derwood hadn't taken the master tapes with him because no one wanted them. Still a bit of a mystery why the album was never completed.

Tony James: “Sweet Revenge was the third Generation X album which was recorded with the original line-up; me, Billy Idol, Derwood, and Mark Laff. We recorded it at Olympic Studios. There’s about ten tracks. It was 90% finished when Derwood announced he was leaving the group; that he’d go on the Japan tour with us, but he wanted to go off and write his own songs.” – (Anthology (Generation X compilation) CD – 2003)
