Sex Pistols - "God Save The Queen" foi lançado há 44 anos

No dia 27 de Maio de 1977, propositadamente na comemoração dos 25 anos do jubileu da Rainha de Inglaterra, foi lançado o segundo single dos Sex Pistols.

O tema "God Save The Queen" foi imediatamente banido da BBC e da autoridade de difusão no Reino Unido.

A faixa inicialmente intitulava-se «No Future», mas foi ´cirurgicamente` alterada, antes da sua edição.

A edição que contemplava no lado B o tema "No Feeling" (pela A&M, mais tarde com "Did You No Wrong" novamente editado mas pela Virgin).

Atingiu o primeiro lugar no top de vendas no Reino Unido, foi ´cirurgicamente` colocado em segundo lugar por parecer mal em relação às comemorações reais, com algumas lojas a colocarem vazio o espaço físico no top dessa segunda posição.

 

This day in Sex Pistols history... May 27th 1977. The Sex Pistols release their alternative national anthem 'God Save The Queen'. 

 

Even though it technically out-sold the Number 1 record of the week (The First Cut is the Deepest by Rod Stewart) 'GSTQ' peaked at Number 2. 

The powers-that-be refused to acknowledge it but the Sex Pistols were Number 1. 

 

This wasn't a conspiracy theory, this was for real.
